Teresa Ribero is the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition.

“Today, perhaps more than ever, strengthening European competitiveness is essential. We need to create wealth, but it has to be sustainable.

Through decarbonization, energy efficiency, circularity, and protection of biodiversity, we can enhance our energy security, our food security, our economic resilience, and our autonomy. We can create wealth.

But sustainable finance or ESG are not only questions of leadership.

It is a question of good management. It is a question of securing long-term financial gains. We must evolve. We need to simplify, but we need to improve.

We need to ensure that we do not lose ambition, integrity or clarity because we have not much time and we cannot afford missing the target, missing the purpose, missing the goals”.
